SEDRIS™ Technology Conference 2001
Plenary Session

"If you think about why you're here today, you think about why interoperability is so important, and what's going on in the simulation world today.
.
You have to realize, the challenges facing the simulation commuinity have, in many cases, already been faced by the gaming community. And I say that because gamers create virtual environments that are immersive.
.
The difference between the gaming world and the simulation world is that in the gaming world, nobody has to buy your products. You know, it's not like I can require a million people to buy my product. I have to convince them by making them believe, suspending this belief for a moment in time, that they would actually want to go in and use simulation, in the form of entertainment."
