Ionospheric Scintillation -- The rapid fluctuation of the phase and intensity of a radio signal that has passed through the earth's ionosphere. This may result in signal power fading, phase cycle slips, receiver loss of lock, etc., and degrade the quality of satellite navigation systems, to include GPS.
