• Opens transmittal for “read” operations using extraction API

• Support identification of the desired implementation

  • The software distribution can be built to leverage dynamic link libraries (shared objects) to provide multiplexed access to different implementation at run time.

• If successful, returns a synthetic environment object.

• The synthetic environment object is freed by SE_CloseSE and not SE_FreeObject
