What is a Relationship?

• A connection, association, orrule among entities:

  • "Customer places Sales Order"
  • "Item occurs on Sales Order"

• In a conceptual model, it is sufficientto state or draw the relationship

• A logical model defines specificmeans of joining two entities viaimplied or expressed foreign keys

• Cardinality indicates how many instances of each of the two entities may or must be involved

Relationship: A connection, link, or association between two entities.
