Organizational Schema (1 of 3)
- Classification is the process of ordering or arrangement of entities such as objects or their attributes into groups or sets on the basis of their relationships, based on observable or inferred properties.
- An organizational schema is the end result of the process of classification and consists of a set of groups.
- These groups are sometimes called taxa (singular, taxon) while organizational schema are sometimes called classificatory systems.
- The EDCS supports “weak” organizational schemas which are intended solely to improve search for codes relevant to the interests of a user.
- The definition of labels/codes (ECC and EAC) are not in any way affected by the Groups with which they may be associated.
- Multiple organizational schemas may coexist.
