Iterative Methods
Coordinate transformation calculations can almost always be formulated using an iterative method.
Advantages
- ERM parameters embedded as variables,
- If properly formulated they are almost always more efficient for the same accuracy as a power series,
- Usually the expressions involved are compact.
Disadvantages
- Convergence rate depends on formulation and quality of the initial value,
- Initial guess must be efficient to compute,
- Efficient to compute stopping criterion needed,
- Even when this approach works, the direct approximation is almost always more efficient.
