Global Coordinate System

• The Global Coordinate System (GCS) is based on a tiling of the Earth’s surface into cells :

  • Each cell has a local Cartesian frame of reference (offset, rotated from GCC)
  • Positions in GCS are specified by four coordinates: X, Y, Z and the cell ID
  • One CTDB per cell
