Organizational Schema Philosophy
- EDCS uses Organizational Schema to arrange Classification and Attribute entries into sets based on similarity.
- The sets need not be disjoint.
- An EDCS Organizational Schema (EO) is the end result of a process of classification and consists of a set of EDCS Groups (EGs).
- No further organization is required among the EGs in an EO.
- The EGs may or may not form a hierarchy.
- When an EO has the property that each Classification entry in EDCS and each Attribute in EDCS is a member of at least one EG, the EO is called complete.
- All EOs in this International Standard shall be complete.
- The definition of Classifications and Attribute entries are not in any way affected by the groups with which they may be associated.
- Multiple Organizational Schemas may coexist.
- Since there is no definitive or single context on how entities can be arranged or organized, the EDCS supports weak organizational schemas which are intended solely to improve search for concepts relevant to the interests of a user.
