Tutorial Introduction
Description - Provide an overview of the fundamental issues in environmental data representation, generation, and interchange. Topics: background on how environmental databases are created; why database creation is expensive; the impact of networking; how environmental databases affect interoperability; real examples of the database building process; the critical issues in interchange; the need for SEDRIS; the SEDRIS approach; what SEDRIS is and is not; project status and who is involved; products and activities; an overview of the SEDRIS technology components; and much more. Demonstrations of selected SEDRIS technology tools and applications are included.
Who Should Attend - Anyone interested in gaining a better appreciation of environmental data generation and consumption issues, and a better understanding of SEDRIS concepts, or anyone new to SEDRIS, to include project managers, policy and decision makers, systems engineers, and technology managers who are impacted by environmental data.
What to Expect - Attaining an understanding of the critical issues in environmental data representation, database creation, interchange, and SEDRIS capabilities and technology components.
