Defining an ORS
An Object Reference Surface (ORS) is an n-dimensional surface used to relate one or more axes of a coordinate system to an ORM
- Typically, this surface is used as a mathematical model of the surface of some physical object in the real world, for example, the approximate mean sea level surface of the planet Earth
- However, the degree to which the model is a good approximation, and the spatial extent over which that approximation holds, may vary
The following ORS are currently defined:
- Plane
- Sphere
- Ellipsoid of revolution
- Gravity equipotential surface
- Pressure equipotential surface
- others ...
