STF 3.0.3 Gridded Data Experiment
In 2001, STF Property Grid extraction software was updated to SEDRIS 3.0.3
- Stand-alone rather than part of JMTK
STF Extraction Process:
- Open specified SEDRIS transmittal
- Find Property Grid objects containing terrain elevation data
- Extract the terrain elevation data from the Property Grid objects
- Create output file in “DTED” format
STF data extraction performance was tested using DTED cells in Serbia
- DTED sizes, STF transmittal sizes and extraction times:
- Level 0: 34KB 35KB 0.010 sec
- Level 1: 2.8MB 1.7MB 2.364 sec
- Level 2: 25MB 17MB 29.392 sec
Results:
- Transmittal sizes were significantly reduced (20-25%) due to compression
- SEDRIS READ API performance was greatly improved (~10x)
- Content was compared (post-by-post) and found to be 100% identical
