Selective Fidelity Mask
Polygonization without Mask
Terratools provides the ability to create a “selective fidelity mask,” enabling the user to manage the polygon budget more effectively. Here the objective was to emphasis representation of the canyon floor and associated washes which are used for maneuver rather than surround bedrock mountains.
Using a GUI, the database engineer delineates the region of interest as seen in the upper image. As the database is compiled from the sources, this region is given a different budget of polygons from the rest of the database.
On the left, we see a polygonization of Range 400 using global point selection criteria. On the right, we see the effect of the polygonization using the selective fidelity mask.
