Reference Usage Guidelines
The Reference type field of an EDCS Dictionary Entry
- Contains one of the following values: PR, AR, DR, IR, or NR.
- May be missing in some EDCS Dictionaries; this information is instead captured as part of the definition of the EDCS Dictionary (e.g., EU and ES).
The Reference field of an EDCS Dictionary Entry
- Contains zero or more citations for that concept as specified by the reference type field.
Some EEs may be defined by an EC concept
- In this case, no external Reference type and Reference are required.
- The relationship between the EE concept and the corresponding EC concept is captured in the EE structured definition.
