Infrastructure Review
We have established the concepts of:
- Coordinates used to express location with respect to a coordinate system
- Coordinate System Types defined in terms of the nature and relationships among their axes
- Reference Datums establishing points, curves and surfaces
- Reference Datum Sets which organize reference datums into specific parametric arrangements
- Object Reference Models which bind a reference datum model and a reference datum set to a spatial object
We will now use this abstract infrastructure to define locations “in the world” by:
- binding a reference datum set to “the world” using measurements
- establishing the time of the binding
- When this binding is associated with a CS the result is a Spatial Reference Frame (SRF)
