Celestial Object Models
equipotential surface: surface in a force field of constant field potential.
Common models of celestial objects include:
- gravity equipotential surface: equipotential surface of a gravity field.
- geoid: gravity equipotential surface that approximates the mean sea level of the Earth.
- pressure equipotential surface: equipotential surface of a pressure field.
- topographic surface: interface between the solid and liquid/gas portions of a celestial object.
While a location may be established with respect to such additional surfaces, such usage is outside of the scope of the SRM, although the SRM will generally address the topic and provide references.
