Detection Model

• The ability of the sensor to detect is dependent on the the level of signal received relative to the noise. This is measured by the signal excess, SE.

where (S/N) is the ratio of signal power to noise power and (S/N)req is the minimum signal to noise ratio “required” for a detection.

• In JWARS, SE is modeled as a stochastic process.
