Translating: the Language Analogy
Meaning is context sensitive -- Sometimes more than one context.
Humans can derive the context, hence phrases such as:
- “The TV show has jumped the shark”
- Parsing the words will not help, need the context
Machines cannot derive context
- Data must be unambiguous
- Data must be loss-less
- Data must be specific and constant
Likewise, the same problems appear when describing the world to automated systems
