Centre Of Buoyancy

Class Name: Centre Of Buoyancy

Superclass - <SEDRIS Abstract Base>

Subclasses

This DRM class is concrete and has no subclasses.

Definition

An instance of this DRM class is a component of an <Aggregate Geometry> B, where B represents a 'body', such that if B is partly or wholly immersed in a fluid, the <Location 3D> specified by B's <Centre Of Buoyancy> is a point where the force equal to the weight of the fluid displaced by B acts upon B.

Example

  1. Consider a <Model> S providing a geometric representation of an ECC_SAILING_VESSEL as follows, where the srf_parameters of the <Model> are specified to be LSR 3D.

             <Model>
             <>
             ----------------------------------
             |                                |
       <Geometry Model>             <Classification Data>
            <>                      tag = ECC_SAILING_VESSEL
            |
       <Union Of Geometry Hierarchy>
            <>
       ------------------------------------
       |                                  |
     (geometric representation)  <Centre Of Buoyancy>
                                          |
                                 <LSR Location 3D>

    If S is instanced in a simulation where S is considered to be floating on water, the effects of the force of the water upon S can be computed for the < Centre Of Buoyancy> to determine how they apply to S as a whole.
