Attachment Point

Class Name: Attachment Point

Superclass - <SEDRIS Abstract Base>

Subclasses

This DRM class is concrete and has no subclasses.

Definition

An instance of this DRM class specifies a <Location 3D> instance where a consuming application may attach other <Model> instances.

Secondary Pages in DRM Diagram:

This class appears on only one page of the DRM class diagram.

Example

  1. Consider a <Model> instance representing an aircraft, the hard points of which are represented as <Attachment Point> instances. Consider a second <Model> instance representing a missile. One missile hangs below the wing, and another missile hangs from the tip of the wing. In this case, the matrix formed by the <Attachment Point> instances conveys the appropriate rotation. The missile, on the other hand, uses an <LSR Transformation> component to move the origin of the missile (which would probably be its SE_GEOMCTRCOD_CENTRE_OF_MASS <Geometric Centre> component) to the point on or near the surface where it attaches to the <Attachment Point> instances of the airplane.
