Geometry Face

Class Name: Geometry Face

Superclass - <Geometry Topology>

Subclasses

This DRM class is concrete and has no subclasses.

Definition

An instance of this DRM class is used to represent a geometric region that is bounded by one or more <Geometry Edge> instances. The <Geometry Face> instance corresponds to a geometric region where that geometric region may be defined by one or more <Polygon> instances and/or linear geometric constructs.

The external boundary of a <Geometry Face> instance is specified by its <Geometry Edge> associates.

Example

  1. <Geometry Face> instances may be used to represent the topology of the upper surface of a forest canopy represented by a set of <Polygon> instances.

Notes

Associated with Notes

Geometry_Edge

These <Geometry Edge> instances specify the border of the <Geometry Face> instance.

Geometry_Node

For level 3 topology or higher, any <Geometry Node> instances contained within the boundary of a <Geometry Face> instance have an association relationship with that <Geometry Face> instance to indicate the relationship. For topology of less than level 3, the association relationship between <Geometry Face> instances and <Geometry Node> instances has the same meaning, but data providers are not required to supply the information.

Geometry_Volume

The <Geometry Face> instance may form part of a <Geometry Volume> instance, possibly one for each side of the <Geometry Face> instance.
