TM Surface Location

Class Name: TM Surface Location

Superclass - <Location Surface>

Subclasses

This DRM class is concrete and has no subclasses.

Definition

An instance of this DRM class specifies a surface coordinate for an SRF based on the Transverse Mercator SRFT.

See 8.5.21 Transverse Mercator SRFT of ISO/IEC 18026 for a complete definition.

Secondary Pages in DRM Diagram:

This class appears on only one page of the DRM class diagram.

Example

  1. SRFs derived from the Transverse Mercator SRFT are often used to describe areas that have greater north-south than east-west extent, and that distortion of scale, distance, direction and area increase away from the central meridian.

Consider an <Environment Root> instance R specifying as its srf_context_info the SRF instance SRM_SRFCOD_BRITISH_NATIONAL_GRID_AIRY. The British National Grid uses an SRF derived from the Transverse Mercator SRFT, so any <Location Surface> instance in the component tree of R is a <TM Surface Location> instance.
