EDCS Profile Registration

• EDCS Profiles may also be registered.
  • In order to support the specification of rational subsets of the EDCS for use within a community, and constraints on the use of specific combinations of concepts from the EDCS, a profile mechanism has been defined.
  • The base profile includes all concepts from all EDCS Dictionaries, and includes no constraints. Additional profiles may be defined through the registration process.

• Guidelines for registration of Profiles (Section 4.14.14) address:
  • Specifying a subset of the EDCS and its registered items
  • Dependence on EA value types for an EDCS Profile Constraint that constrains EDCS Representation Types
  • Dependence on EA value types for an EDCS Profile Constraint that constrains EA values, or the ranges of EA values
  • Association of an EDCS EA of value type REAL for an EDCS Profile Constraint that constrains the EUs and ESs that may be associated with an EDCS EA of value type REAL
