5.1.2 Overview

This International Standard uses EDCS Classifications (ECs) to specify the type of environmental objects.  Each EC has a unique definition, and is designated by both a unique ECL and a unique ECC. The EDCS Classification Dictionary is presented in tables with its EDCS Dictionary Entries grouped alphabetically by the first letter of the ECL. This International Standard does not associate any EC with any EA(s).

5.2 EDCS Classification Dictionary

The ECs specified in this International Standard are presented in Tables 5.4 through 5.29 and in Annex C, Tables C.2 through C.27.  The contents of each field of an EDCS Classification Dictionary Entry are listed in Table 5.2.

Definition

The definition of the EC (see 4.2.1 Definitions).
Related concepts Other ECs, EAs or EEs that may be related to this EC (see 4.13.5 Guidelines for related concepts)

Code

The ECC (see 4.2.3 Codes).
Groups The EGLs of the EGs in EO GENERAL of which this EC is a member (see 4.10 EDCS Groups).
Reference type The type of the references (see 4.2.4.3 Types of references).
References The references for this EC (see 4.2.4 References). If there are no references, this field shall contain "none".

The EDCS Classification Dictionary Entries are grouped alphabetically by the first letter of the ECL, and this presentation is reflected in the structure of Table 5.3.
